SUSTech holds High-End Forum on Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics - News & Events - SUSTC Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering

From December 13 to 14, 2020, the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering (MEE) of Southern University of Science and Technology(SUSTech) held the High-End Forum on Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics, along with other seminars and ceremonies throughout the two days. Experts and scholars in the field of mechanical engineering gathered at SUSTech to discuss in depth the development of intelligent manufacturing and robotics and the future of mechanical engineering. SUSTech Vice President Dongxiao ZHANG, and SUSTech acting Vice President, Yusheng ZHAO, both attended the event.
Yiming RONG, the Department Head of MEE at SUSTech, and Li WEN, Director of the Intelligent Equipment Division of Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission, both spoke at the opening ceremony. They recognized the importance of building a pioneering demonstration zone in Shenzhen, and hoped that this seminar would further promote the development of intelligent manufacturing and robotics.
In his speech, Vice President Dongxiao ZHANG said the University has been attaching great importance to the research of intelligent manufacturing and robotics. The approval of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Human-Augmentation and Rehabilitation Robotics in Universities will help to transform the robotics industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Peigen LI, professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, pointed out in his speech, cultivating students' habit of merging the digital and physical worlds is conducive to enhancing students' sense of innovation.
Jianbin LUO gave a report on "Tsinghua University's Engineering Reform and the Proposal of the Double T Plan - Thinking on the Cultivation of University Engineering Talents in the Next 30 Years". He said that in the new era, Tsinghua hopes its teachers and students to have creative Thoughts and leading Technology(Double T)and establish a scientific research-industry-finance model to bridge the gap between universities and society.
Jianda HAN, Professor of Nankai University, introduced the development of antarctic research robots and surgical assistant robots. There were also similar lectures on the construction and development of footed robots and the wear-resistant bionic design of teeth.
Chenglong FU, Professor of SUSTech, presided over the ceremony of key projects of NSFC-Shenzhen Robotics Joint Fund. He introduced the research background of the visual perception and adaptive control of the robotic thigh prosthesis.
At the 4th Seminar on the Development Strategy of the Department of MEE, Yiming RONG spoke about the preparations for the doctoral program. The forum provided guidelines and suggestions for the future development of the department.
