Dr. Feng joined the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology, as an assistant professor in January 2023. She received her dual bachelor’s degrees in Engineering and Management from Tianjin University in 2012. Later, she got her dual Ph.D. degrees from both Clermont Auvergne University and Tianjin University in 2018. She was a postdoctoral researcher in the Reconfigurable Robotics Lab at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) between 2018 and 2020. Prior to joining SUSTech, she was appointed as Lecturer (2020-2021), and then promoted to Senior Lecturer (2021-2022) in the Department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering at Northumbria University (“University of the year 2022” in UK). Her research focuses on deployable structures and origami robots, reconfigurable mechanisms and reconfigurable robots, kinematics, and the design of chiral mechanisms and metamaterials. She has published over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles in renowned international journals including Research, Mechanism and Machine Theory, ASME Transactions, Applied Physics Letters, etc. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, serves as the Associate Editor of the top journal Mechanism and Machine Theory, the Guest Editor of the journal Materials and the Editorial Board Member of the "Robotics Science and Technology Series" of Higher Education Press. She served in the program committee of the 2021 IEEE/IFToMM International Conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robots (ReMAR 2021), co-organized the 2023 ASME Student Mechanism and Robot Design Competition (SMRDC) and will continue playing her roles in IEEE/IFToMM ReMAR 2024 and 2024 ASME SMRDC.
